We left the hotel at the same time, 6pm, headed towards 14.2 at “I AM CrossFit” in Miami, Florida. I had a driver, and Dave had to drive himself. I wasn’t expecting to see him on the crowded Miami highways, but there he was. I lowered my window and blasted him with the Canon 1DX + Canon 24-70mm. I snapped 10 photos and this was the best one.
4 photos, of the same man, in a 30 second period. The variance and breadth in expression is the reason I make this post. All pictures were processed individually with obvious differences.
I need to post on the blog, but Instagram is just so easy!

@hayleyparlen shot with Canon 5D Mark III, 50-500mm Sigma, in Kauai, 2012
I was holding the Canon 5D Mark III, with the Canon 65mm MP-E lens and the MT 24X flash attached.
This fly landed and at f16, ISO 200-320, 1/200, he was all mine.
Froning and Bailey shot at ISO 12800, Canon 1DX, Sigma 50-500
I wasn’t pleased with the Sigma 50-500 when mounted on the Canon 5D Mark III. The 1DX makes the high ISO acceptable, and puts this lens in a category of its own.
The 50-500 range makes this versatile beyond all other lens. Coupled with a Sennheiser MKE 400, Manfrotto fluid video mono pod, and the Jobu jr. gimbal, this is a unique video, photo duo with no peer that I know.

This photo shocked me. I thought Kenneth(180lbs) was much larger than Josh Bridges (165lbs), but in this side by side photo, you can see that height, not girth is the primary difference. Both men are extremely swollen after having done 100 wall balls, 100 pull ups, 100 pistols and 100 one-armed dumbbell snatches.

He looks like a champion. Josh Bridges made it look easy today. After winning the 100′s work out (event 4), he reached into the audience and plucked a child (his son I presume) from the crowd. Many other athletes just collapsed after this unbelievable show of strength and power.

It’s been too long for the fans, but it has been worth the wait. 2009 CrossFit Games Champion, Mikko Salo will represent Finland at the CrossFit European Regionals May 17-19th .
I predicted Kyle (left) to be a serious contender in 2009 – 3 years later Kyle Kasperbauer takes 3rd place at the CrossFit Games. Rich Froning (right) looks to be the favorite for 2013; a one man dynasty ?
