CrossFit Games 2012 – Angie Pie

Angie Pie was in the underground arena entrance at the 2012 CrossFit Games and she stepped into a pool of natural light, in an otherwise dimly lit holding area.

I switched the Canon 5D Mark III from video to photo mode and grabbed a gang load of stills.

We got up at 3:45 AM and made the treck to Camp Pendleton.  The athletes showed up a couple of hours later, got in the water, road bikes, and ran.  The day was long and filled with great photo opportunities.

Narobi Mombasa Highway

My car broke down on the side of the highway (25 miles outside of Mombasa, Kenya), and I waited three hours for a pick up truck to take me back to my hotel.

There was a steady stream of people walking along the highway including hundreds of school children.

These boys stopped and studied me for several minutes before I pointed my camera at them; at which point they took off in a full sprint.

Riding with your eyes closed

6AM London, England, I spot a stunt rider in the streets.   This man can navigate the busy streets of London with his eyes closed.
I shot humans on bicycles (in Trafalgar Square) for an hour today, using the Canon 100mm f/2.8.  A great lens for sure.

The Spider, The Bee, and the Flies

I tried to go on a walk this sunny San Diego morning, but I did not make it 30 feet out the front door, before I found this spectacular photo opportunity.

This green spider captured the bee and several small flies (?) have jumped on board.

Video coming soon!

This photo was shot in Cookville, TN prior to Rich winning the 2011 CrossFit Games.  Rich was crowned the fittest man alive in 2011 and will defend his title on the weekend of July 12-15, 2012 in Carson, California at the 2012 CrossFit Games.

If Rich wins, he will be the first athlete to repeat victory.

There is no comparison between the Mark II and the Mark III.  Any serious photographer will be happy with the Mark III purchase and never look back at the Mark II.
