Matt, Rich and Scott, backstage as the athletes prepare to kick off the 2013 CrossFit Games.
The sell out crowd, 4000 strong, at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, loved Rich Froning.

Dan appeared to have this event in the bag, with 70 (of 90) feet remaining to the finish line, holding 160lbs in the front rack
With 60 feet to go, Dan drops the weight and Rich takes the lead.
Rich crosses the finish line and wins the event.
Dan crosses the finish line with Rich’s support.
The judge rules that Dan dropped the weight before completely crossing the finish line.
Dan, 18 inches from the finish line re-racks the 160lbs.
Dan’s time earned him 2nd place.
This year, 2014, Dan will compete in the So-Cal Regional, in an epic show down, with Josh Bridges.

I wasn’t pleased with the Sigma 50-500 when mounted on the Canon 5D Mark III. The 1DX makes the high ISO acceptable, and puts this lens in a category of its own.
The 50-500 range makes this versatile beyond all other lens. Coupled with a Sennheiser MKE 400, Manfrotto fluid video mono pod, and the Jobu jr. gimbal, this is a unique video, photo duo with no peer that I know.

Kenneth Leverich was unforgettable in 2012. He was young, kind, approachable and built like a seasoned CrossFitter. If it were not for Josh Bridges (photo coming tomorrow), Leverich would appear bigger than life.

It’s been too long for the fans, but it has been worth the wait. 2009 CrossFit Games Champion, Mikko Salo will represent Finland at the CrossFit European Regionals May 17-19th .
I predicted Kyle (left) to be a serious contender in 2009 – 3 years later Kyle Kasperbauer takes 3rd place at the CrossFit Games. Rich Froning (right) looks to be the favorite for 2013; a one man dynasty ?
